A Brush with Prescott: Our Community Mosaic
Created by the People of Prescott & Our Summer Visitors | 2024
Conceived & Designed by Local Artist Marnie Froats
Completed & Installed Dec 2025
This vibrant mosaic mural is a true community masterpiece, created during the 2024 Prescott Pop-Ups season. Conceived by local artist Marnie Froats, the project transformed four local images captured by Prescott Photographer Ashton Mayes into a collective work of art. Each image was divided into small squares, and residents of Prescott and our summer visitors were invited to paint a piece, adding their own unique touch.
The result is a stunning tapestry of individual creativity woven together into a shared vision of Prescott. This mural reflects the spirit of our town—collaborative, welcoming, and rich in local character. It stands as a lasting tribute to the power of community, creativity, and connection.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to this beautiful piece!

A Brush with Prescott: The Story of Our Community Mosaic
Bringing Art and Community Together
During the summer of 2024, something special took shape at the Prescott Pop-Ups. Visitors and residents alike picked up a brush and became part of a unique artistic experience—one that would leave a lasting mark on Downtown Prescott.
The idea for this community-driven mural was brought to life by local artist Marnie Froats (Studio Marnie), whose vision transformed four local photographs by Ashton Mayes of AMayesZing Photography into a collaborative masterpiece. Each image was carefully divided into small squares, and throughout the season, people of all ages and backgrounds were invited to paint a single piece. Every brushstroke was a personal contribution to something greater—a mosaic that reflects the spirit of Prescott itself.
Photography by Ashton Mayes – AMayesZing Photography
The stunning photographs that formed the foundation of this mural were captured by Ashton Mayes, the official photographer for the Town of Prescott. Her keen eye for detail and passion for showcasing Prescott’s beauty played a key role in making this project possible.
Beyond photography, Ashton is also an accomplished painter, working in various media to bring her creative vision to life. You can explore her work in person at her gallery, AMayesZing Photography & Art, located at 123 King Street West, where she showcases a mix of photography, original paintings, and souvenirs featuring her artwork, along with a dedicated photography studio space.

A Reflection of Our Town
The final piece is more than just a mural—it’s a visual story of Prescott. Just like the town, it is built upon the contributions of many individuals, each adding their own touch to something vibrant, welcoming, and enduring. The diverse colors, styles, and techniques within each square celebrate the creativity and collaboration of our community.
This project was made possible through funding from the Town of Prescott, the Downtown Prescott BIA, and the My Main Street Program, reflecting a shared commitment to strengthening our downtown and creating spaces that foster connection. It is part of a broader placemaking initiative aimed at introducing more public art, celebrating diversity, and enhancing our inclusive community.
Now permanently displayed by the Clock Tower in Downtown Prescott, this mural stands as a tribute to the connections forged between residents and visitors and the pride we share in our town’s culture and history.
