Cycling in Ontario 2025>
Prescott is featured in the 2025 Cycling in Ontario guide as a growing hub for cyclists along the Great Lakes Waterfront Trail, highlighting our bike-friendly businesses, vibrant waterfront, and welcoming downtown.
Located along the scenic St. Lawrence River—just east of the 1000 Islands and about 90 km by bike west of Cornwall—Prescott is quickly becoming one of Eastern Ontario’s must-visit cycling hubs. As part of the 3,600 km Great Lakes Waterfront Trail, Prescott offers cyclists the perfect mix of riverfront views, rich history, and modern amenities.
Whether you’re stopping for an afternoon or planning an overnight break, cyclists are warmly welcomed in the Downtown Prescott RiverWalk District, an accredited Ontario By Bike™ Business Area. You’ll find secure bike parking, repair stations throughout town, and a wide selection of bike-friendly businesses ready to help you rest and recharge.
Start your visit at the Prescott Museum & Visitor Centre, our official Bike Welcome Centre, offering cycling maps, trail info, water refills, and local tips. From there, it’s just a short ride or stroll to explore highlights like Fort Wellington, Prescott Pop-Ups, and Sandra S. Lawn Harbour & Marina. Open Thursday through Sunday in the summer, the Pop-Ups feature a colourful collection of vendor cabins, food trucks, artisan goods, and the one-of-a-kind ArBru on the River—Canada’s first solar-powered beer garden. Visitors can also rent kayaks or stand-up paddleboards to take in the waterfront from a different perspective.
Hungry? Patio seating and locally roasted coffee await at Katarina’s Coffee Shop, named 2023 Best Bicycle Friendly Business in Eastern Ontario. It’s a favourite among cyclists on warm summer days—and yes, it’s never too early for one of their signature ice creams. Nearby, grab a bite at Outpost Café, enjoy riverside events, or head uptown for a taste of Spain at Little Barcelona.
Prescott has become a favourite stop on the 1000 Islands & St. Lawrence River Ontario By Bike Ride, and it’s easy to see why.
So whether you're just passing through or planning to linger a while, there's no better time to #ExplorePrescottON—by bike.
