Dan Garswood is a Mechanical Engineering Technologist and a very enthusiastic photographer. While he has studied some photography at St. Lawrence College, he is largely self-taught. He photographs with traditional materials and processes his own films (colour and black and white) and prints in a traditional wet darkroom in addition to working with archival digital processes. Although Dan studies many areas of photography, he concentrates on black and white landscape photography. He has a special interest in infrared photography. Lately Dan has been experimenting with the bromoil process and bromoil transfers. Most of Dan’s prints are crafted using archival silver gelatin papers and are thiocarbamide toned. Dan’s digital images are ink jet printed with archival pigment based inks on archival papers. Dan is a member of f8, a fine art black and white photography group, and exhibits his works across Eastern Ontario. Dan is also Secretary of Brockville’s Every Angle Photographer’s Association.
