Arts and Culture

Our heritage culture and the arts are very important to the Town of Prescott. The St. Lawrence Shakespeare Festival presents lively, accessible professional, theatrical productions in a beautiful outdoor amphitheatre, on the banks of the St. Lawrence river each July and August. On the mainstage in 2009 you will be able to see Shakespeare's battle of the sexes, The Taming of the Shrew alongside the less well known, but equally fascinating comedy Measure for Measure. The Fort Town Concert Association, the South Grenville Artists, the Summer Concert Series in our waterfront amphitheatre and the Talent by the Tower featuring local artists and artisans are all very popular.

Each summer in August, Prescott Loyalist Days brings us back to our hertiage with a military re-enactment on the grounds of the Fort Wellington National Historic Site. The Battle of Prescott, period demonstrations, parades and fireworks are a must to see.

The Grenville County Historical Society located in the former location of the Grand Trunk Railway Station offer an extensive archive for anyone wanting to research their family roots in Prescott. They were also very active in events such as the visit of the Bluenose II and JP Wiser's Christmas Homecoming.
