Town buys into economic development projects

A regional plan to market tourism opportunities received the support of Prescott council Monday in the form of $11,625 for three projects.

Council approved a municipal contribution of $5,000 to research possibilities for industrial development on the Hwy. 416 corridor, $3,125 for a cultural mapping master plan and $3,500 for an integrated community sustainability plan.

The projects are moving forward under the economic development office of the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville.

Treasurer Laurie Kirkby said the funding will come out of budget savings or from reserves.
