Prescott welcomes a new Downtown bakery October 23,2009 - "The B's Bakery"!
Prescott will once again have its own downtown establishment for fresh bread, sweets and savoury treats, as “The B’s Bakery” opens for business on October 23rd! The B’s Bakery, run by Prescott residents Denise and Jo Bedell-Bleeker, will be located inside Piccolo Café Plus at 178 King St. West in Prescott, just east of the clock tower. The Bedell-Bleekers were regulars at Prescott’s Farmers’ Market this summer, where they sold homestyle-baked goodies, European pastries, canned goods and homemade crafts to a steadily growing customer following. In order to meet customer demand, they are opening a bakery counter inside the Piccolo Café - after a generous invitation by café owners Jaro & Magda Duris. The B’s Bakery will specialize in fresh-baked breads and flatbreads, cookies and candies, pies and cakes. Their specialty breads and preserves have been highlighted at local events – including the official Wine & Cheese Reception for press and local dignitaries for the Forwarders' Museum and Information Centre – and their unique cakes have appeared at events as diverse as the Windmill Point New Building Dedication Ceremony, the Food For All Food Bank’s Bottom Line Food Challenge, and Pirate Days. “We believe that everyone should be able to provide fresh, wholesome baked goods to their families without breaking the bank to do it,” says Denise. “We want to give Prescott residents the opportunity to use locally-made, freshly-baked bread and cookies in their children’s lunches while paying prices comparable to pre-packaged items available at larger box stores.” She adds: “We are busily preparing for our opening on October 23rd where we plan to have lots of goodies for people to try. Everyone is very welcome and we hope to see you then.” Jo and Denise moved, with their family, to Prescott in September 2008 from California. Since then they have been happily building their ties to the community. Both are members of the fundraising committee for the Food For All Food Bank and Denise is a member of the Friends of Windmill Point and the Grenville County Historical Society. The B’s Bakery will begin operation on October 23rd, 2009 inside Piccolo Café Plus, 178 King St W. The Bakery will offer delivery within Prescott with a minimum purchase and provide twice-weekly delivery to senior’s complexes within Prescott, with pre-orders. They will offer nut-free, gluten-friendly, and diabetic-friendly items on a semi-regular basis or upon request, and are happy to take special orders. They are available for catering both small and large events and will prepare bag lunches – made with fresh baked bread and sweets – for groups of four or more, with pre-order. Discounts are available for larger orders. Please visit www.TheBsBakery.com or call Denise Bedell-Bleeker at 613 925 0369 for more information.
