A Warm Welcome from Prescott Mayor Brett Todd

Prescott is about more than history.

We may be known as “The Fort Town” for our War of 1812-era Fort Wellington National Historic Site. We may be justifiably proud of our role in the birth of Canada, going back to our Loyalist roots with the arrival of Colonel Edward Jessup in the 1780s. And we may take comfort in such visible ties to our heritage as Fort Wellington, our elegant Victorian homes along quiet, tree-lined streets, and landmarks that remind us of the forwarding trade and how we once served as the home of both Labatt Brewery and J.P. Wiser’s Distillery.

But Prescott is about much more than the past. Prescott is a vibrant, modern community that represents the very best of small-town Canada. Active residents of all ages, thriving volunteer organizations, and a progressive town council embracing the future with new economic initiatives aimed at encouraging new industrial, commercial, and residential development, make us an ideal place to live and work.

Prescott is certainly poised to welcome new business investment. The municipality owns generous land assets in an industrial and commercial park along Hwy. 401. We sit at a perfect location at the junction of Hwy. 401, Hwy. 416, and the Prescott-Ogdensburg, NY International Bridge, with Interstate 81 just 30 minutes away connecting us all the way to Tennessee. Major centres are within an easy drive, including Ottawa just 45 minutes to the north, Kingston an hour to the west, and Montreal just 90 minutes to the east.

Take some time to get to know us. Explore our official website, but be sure to visit us offline. Consider the incredible opportunities that we have to offer your business, or your family, or both.

Come see our historic downtown neighbourhoods. Stay a weekend at one of our many historic bed-and-breakfast inns. Enjoy our scenic St. Lawrence River waterfront and the Sandra S. Lawn Harbour. Golf at our spectacular riverside Prescott Golf Club. Take part in summer events such as the military battle re-enactments of Loyalist Days and the St. Lawrence Shakespeare Festival, which offers internationally acclaimed performances on a nightly basis every July and August.

Thank you so much for visiting our online home. We hope to see you in Prescott in person soon!

Sincerely,Brett Todd
