Downtown & Urban Design Plan

| |

More properly titled the Prescott Downtown & Urban Design Guidelines, this critical planning document was developed in 2005 through extensive consultation with the community.  A supporting document to the Official Plan, it is a plan to address the town's waterfront and how the waterfront and the downtown core interact.

A series of facilitated community meetings and break-out sessions led to the development of this 'vision' for historic Prescott and a step by step plan to revitalize our downtown in a balanced approach to promote healthy businesses, tourism and a great quality of life for residents.

We have already acted on several of the recommendations such as new welcome signs and installing banners and planters to improve overall beautification.  We have renovated the Forwarders' Museum to operate as both a early heritage museum and a Visitor Information Centre, and have completed the redesign of the waterfront.  More of the recommendations will be incorporated into the new zoning by-law and a program of incentives to support this plan will soon be available through our Community Improvement Plan.
