Garbage Collection

Waste & Recycling Collection Calendar

The Town of Prescott has a residential waste collection plan. The Town's designated hauler will collect only residential waste in approved, town bags. The curbside pick-up is each Tuesday, with possible changes to the schedule for statutory holidays. Please check our social media pages or newspaper for changes and updates.

Curbside pick-up is for weekly residential waste that fits into the regulated town bags. For large items that cannot fit into the garbage bags, please contact a local cartage company.  Businesses, industries and institutions are responsible for the disposal of their own waste.

Garbage bags may be purchased at:

  • Town Hall
  • Beach Home Hardware
  • Canadian Tire
  • Giant Tiger
  • O'Reilly's Your Independent Grocer
  • Mr. Gas
  • Your Family Dollar
  • Prescott Smoke Shop
  • Shoppers Drug Mart

Small plastic bags $0.75 each or a package of 10 for $7.50.
Large plastic bags $1.50 each or a package of 10 for $15.00.

Recycling Collection

Recycling is collected at the curbside on Thursdays with alternating weeks of fibre/paper and mixed containers. Please refer to our Waste & Recycling Collection Calendar for details.

Treasure Day

"Treasure Day" Free item exchange will take place Saturday, September 22, 2018.

Are you searching for that special something or wishing to get rid of an item you no longer need? Treasure Exchange Day is a great opportunity to exchange reusable household items, such as furniture, appliances, and toys - for free!

Participating in this community re-use event is easy - just follow the simple tips below:

  • Clearly label items you wish to give away as "FREE" and place them at the curb.
  • Prevent misunderstandings by ensuring items such as children's bikes, toys, and gardening tools are not accidentally left near the curb.
  • Tour your neighbourhood to see what great deals you can find at the curb.
  • At the end of the day, remove items that were not picked up from your curb.
  • All leftover items must be removed from the curb by 7:00 p.m. on Sunday. Items left at the curb are subject to enforcement action, which may include a fine or clean-up fee.
