(For Immediate Release)

 Information Update Regarding COVID-19 Pandemic

(Prescott, ON) The Municipal Emergency Control Group (MECG) met virtually on Friday, March 12, 2021, to review and discuss new information updates for the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark region.

Beginning Monday, March 15, 2021, our zone will move into the Yellow-Protect framework. This framework focuses on stronger targeted enforcement, fines, and more education to limit spread. As cases rise and the weather becomes warmer, it is vital to continue to follow recommended practices.

 Remember to:

  1. Maintain social distance guidelines (2 metres)
  2. Wear a mask in spaces where social distancing cannot be maintained
  3. Take precautions in public spaces
  4. Take mild symptoms seriously

"The ongoing and expanding outbreak in Lanark can be traced back to one social gathering, showing just how quickly that the virus can spread and impact on communities across the region," said Mayor Brett Todd. "This reinforces the need to remain vigilant. Wash those hands. Wear those masks. And continue to take any and all other recommended precautions, especially when dealing with any sort of social gathering. We can see the light at the end of the tunnel now, but we're not in the clear yet."

The Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit continue to roll out vaccine distribution and currently have four fixed sites. Priority groups will be invited to attend these clinics and be provided a unique booking code to book online or through the Health Unit. The next group to be given vaccination priority will be the 80+ age group. A group of partners will be calling individuals to offer an appointment.
